Thanks from the Hartley Learning Centre
The Hartley Learning Centre at Saffron Walden County High School has been incredibly lucky to have received an abundance of donations from the local community, parents, students, and staff. Recent donations have included fiction from all genres and some wonderful non-fiction too. The school has received a huge back collection of National Geographic magazines, both the adult and child editions, which are very popular. Also, a complete set of Encyclopedia Britannica arrived courtesy of Saffron Walden Town Football Club, which are simply amazing (and the students are amazed to see how mass information was provided pre-Google!). Most recently, Trilby Roberts and Edward Gildea donated several books that we can add to our History and Diversity sections, as the books champion the contributions made by Black and Minority Ethnic servicemen and women during the conflicts of the past century. Edward, who is a local environmentalist, was most proud to donate the book 'Empires of the Mind' which was written by his brother.
Please know that we are hugely grateful for all your contributions and for thinking of us here at Saffron Walden County High. Books are such an integral part of learning and wellbeing, and we ensure that your book donations will be used and enjoyed for years to come.
