Employers' Breakfast
On Thursday 18th September we welcomed over 50 local and national employers to SWCHS for our first Employers’ Breakfast. The Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Saffron Walden also attended.
Headteacher Polly Lankester kicked off proceedings with an insightful segment on the context and success of our school and sixth form in relation to both the region and the local community, with acknowledgement of the huge mutual benefit and importance of employer partnership. Five of our Year 13 students then shared their varied employer experiences with the group; ranging from interactions at careers events that helped them navigate their future aspirations, to securing apprenticeships through their work experience opportunities. The CEO of Saffron Walden Building Society then addressed the audience with his insights as an established employment partner. Matt Toogood, Careers and Future Aspirations lead, then walked participants through the careers offering our young people are party to receive from Year 7 to 13 and how employer engagement impacts them and the school community. Finally, roundtable discussions took place with employers, students and staff sharing feedback and networks.
