Openings on the ASU - SCHOOL FARM

The following positions are available and these could be combined for a candidate with the time, expertise and enthusiasm to take on a significant role within the ASU.

Teacher/Lecturer – to cover a maternity leave in the first instance, we are looking for someone who can co-ordinate, plan and deliver City & Guilds Level 2 Animal Care, Level 3 Animal Management to our post 16 students. This post will also include animal husbandry duties such as the management and implementation of care plans (cleaning and maintenance of accommodation, feeding, and preventative health care measures)

Technician – one year in the first instance: duties to maintain high standards of animal welfare such as: feeding animals, maintenance of coats, hooves and claws, moving animals as required, mucking out, maintaining a clean environment and assisting the staff in the smooth running of the unit.

Both roles will require some weekend/school holiday work as agreed with the team to ensure animal welfare is maintained at all times and also to ensure that funding opportunities are maximised – these include running children’s parties, holiday clubs and Open Day events.

Both positions would suit people with an ambitious nature, looking to add to the continued growth of the ASU whilst further developing their professional skills and experience.

Both roles require the candidates to have experience of working with animals, be a good communicator and be willing to contribute to a team that is striving to grow the area.

For the Teacher/Lecturer role experience in delivering and planning lessons to small groups is essential.

Hours to be determined dependent on the candidate’s availability but as a minimum we are looking for 3 days for the Teacher/Lecturer post with the Technician providing weekend cover initially with scope to extend into week days. Salary dependent on experience.
