BTEC Musical Theatre - Level 3
BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Musical Theatre
Equivalent in size to one A Level, this engaging and practical qualification is designed for students who are passionate about acting, singing and dance. The course provides an inspiring introduction to the world of musical theatre, enabling students to develop their performance skills through rehearsal, creative exploration and live performance opportunities.
Students will work collaboratively to create, rehearse and perform a range of musical theatre material, developing confidence, creativity and a strong understanding of performance practice. They will explore different styles and approaches to performance while learning how to respond imaginatively to creative briefs and performance stimuli.
Course Content
Students will study a range of units that develop their performance skills and understanding of the musical theatre industry, including:

Group Performance Workshop - devising and performing original work in response to a creative stimulus whilst developing rehearsal and collaborative skills.

Developing Skills and Techniques for Musical Theatre - exploring and refining acting, singing and dance skills through practical workshops, rehearsals and performance.

Musical Theatre Techniques - integrating acting, movement and vocal performance to create effective musical theatre performances.

Two Optional Specialist Units
Assessment is through a combination of practical performances, project work and external assessment tasks, allowing students to demonstrate their skills in realistic performance contexts.
This course is ideal for students who enjoy performing and working as part of a creative team. It supports progression to higher education, drama school training and a wide range of opportunities within the performing arts and creative industries.
