Enrichment & Wellbeing

Student Wellbeing

At SWCHS we want to keep students informed about their rights and responsibilities, so we run a Well-Being Programme for everyone in Year 12. Students are given a booklet which provides guidance and information about how to seek support and help both in and out of the Sixth Form.

At the start of Year 12, a three-day programme covers student health, well-being and safety. Recent activities have included a Motorwise Safety and Education event offered by Uttlesford District Council, Essex County Council, Essex Police and Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, with additional support coming from local driving schools and FedEx. Workshops held by youth workers and health care professionals have also focussed on sexual health, drugs and alcohol issues and mental health.

Academic Enrichment

Academic Enrichment is a compulsory course at SWCHS Sixth Form. It allows students to broaden their post-16 education, by reinforcing and enhancing the subjects studied up to GCSE and being followed at A-Level. As part of this course, we offer a fortnightly lecture, where students have the opportunity to listen to topical debates and talks. On top of building their CV throughout the year, each week students will reflect on their learning in other subjects, build on revision techniques, organisational skills, along with discussing current affairs and future opportunities. There is no examination or qualification for Academic Enrichment.
